Barbershop Harmony Time is a half hour locally produced Barbershop music program hosted by Dennis Driscoll, Associate Professor Emeritus in Atmospheric Sciences at Texas A&M University.
Barbershop Harmony Time presents unique recordings of a cappella singing of the very finest quartets and choruses, both men’s and women’s from the United States and around the world.
Brazos Valley Concert Series: Saturday 1pm – 2pm
The Brazos Valley Concert Series is a program which highlights music from around the Brazos Valley. Concerts are recorded and segments aired for those who may not have
attended the concerts or for those who did and want to hear an encore performance. Some of the concerts that are recorded from local venues are the Brazos Valley Symphony
Orchestra, The Brazos Valley Chorale, The Community Chamber Concert Series, and The Texas Music Festival Concert Series.
Concerts From The Library of Congress: Saturday 2pm – 3pm
"You can trace the popularity of chamber music in America directly to the Library of Congress's Coolidge Auditorium." Says the Washington Post.
These concerts present the best in chamber music from the Coolidge Auditorium, venue for world-class performers and world premieres of commissioned works since 1925, reflects the diversity of music in America, featuring artists from various genres.
Concerts from the Library of Congress air across the nation in a new thirteen-week radio series hosted by Bill McGlaughliln -- a co-production of the Library of Congress, WETA-FM, and CD Syndications. The launch marks a return to the seventy-year tradition of broadcasts from the historic Coolidge Auditorium, with interactive Web packages highlighting some of the 22 million items in the Library's music archives. Center Stage at Wolf Trap: Saturday 3pm – 4pm
Center Stage from Wolf Trap showcases live -performances from some of today's -finest chamber musicians. Recorded in the -acoustically superb Barns at Wolf Trap, these one-hour radio programs also include unscripted and spontaneous conversation with hosts Rich Kleinfeldt and Bill McGlaughlin. A veteran broadcaster and musician, Rich Kleinfeldt is known for his lively dialogues on the popular radio series Indianapolis On-the-Air. Formerly with Voice of America, Rich now hosts the daily Morning Maestro, on WorldSpace Satellite Radio, heard worldwide. He performs and tours as a member of the Washington Saxophone Quartet.
Conductor, composer, and radio personality Bill McGlaughlin is a master communicator. His Peabody Award winning radio show, Saint Paul Sunday, is in its twenty-sixth season and Exploring Music with Bill McGlaughlin is in its fourth year. He has led orchestras throughout the United States and was Music Director of the Kansas City Symphony for twelve years. Bill has composed for the American Composers Forum, the White House Millennium Council, Garrison Keillor, and a tribute to Aaron Copland, with whom he worked in the 1970s.
The Barns at Wolf Trap, a year-round -facility hailed as "one of the best places to hear music in Washington," has become one of the D.C. area's premier venues. Consisting of two rebuilt 18th century barns, the venue serves as a theater, a concert setting for The Discovery Series, and the home to the Wolf Trap Opera Company. The Barns at Wolf Trap are owned and operated by the Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts. Located just outside of -Washington D.C., Wolf Trap presents more than 280 performances each year at its three venues. Two of Wolf Trap's venues, the Filene Center and Children's Theatre-in-the-Woods at Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts are -operated through a partnership with the National Park Service.
